Cardiovascular sonographer is a registered health professional who as result of inclusive, dedicated education in medical and technical aspects of diagnostic cardiovascular sonography is qualified for echo cardiovascular tests. They perform these examinations in compliance with protocols and techniques as outlined in essentials and standards of intersocietal commission of Echo cardiovascular laboratories.
The basic role of cardiovascular sonographer is to acquire diagnostic recordings of cardiac high frequency wave sonography that is ultrsonography images along with the Doppler hemodynamic data. This technique is totally operator dependant and high proficiency with excellent knowledge is required to get best possible performance. Cardiovascular sonographer integrates known clinical information, ultrasonographic image content and other relevant physiological data to tailor widespread and precise examination. He must presume important liability for the examination and should work out autonomous decisions.
Cardiovascular sonographer must have sophisticated cognitive skills and proficiency as well in sonographic techniques to create correct and proper anatomic and physiologic information for the physician to evaluate for diagnostic explanation. These sonographers must be master in selecting applicable echo cardiographic details, quantitative calculations from these details and communicating his own notion to the physician. Cardiovascular sonographer works under supervision of physician and is trained to level 3 status or training level 2 status. The cardiovascular sonographer should be available for assistance when it is difficult to examine the cause. He should join the supervising physician in interpretive evaluation of examination to give relevant technical information. Such a collaborative effort is necessary to assure diagnostic information obtained is perfect.
Along with this, cardiovascular sonographer should have thorough knowledge of physical principles of ultrasound as well as diagnostic equipments and bioeffects of the same. He should be responsible for getting usual periodic quality assurance and safety confirmation ultrasonography instrument. Sonographer should be the aware of patients contact with ultrasonic energy and its consequences on human tissues. This ensures the safety of patient without scarifying examination value.
Besides the ultrasound equipments cardiovascular sonographers should have wide understanding of cardiovascular diseases and noncardiac sickness that that may cause complications in cardiac pathology and pathophysiologic findings in adult population.
