The X-rays are widely used these days in the diagnosis of the different types of diseases. Next only to the laboratory tests, they are the second most popular tests, done for the detection of various bone defects. The diagnostic significance of X-rays lies in the advantages and the number of diseases that they can diagnose.

The diseases in which the diagnostic significance of X-rays lies, are the ones in which, some changes occur in the composition or the texture of the affected tissues. They are used for getting the images of the internal parts in the body and find out these occurred changes. These images contain a pattern of shadows according to the density of the parts, of which they are. Another of the applications in which, they are used is the detection of the fractures in the bones and cartilages. They are also used in the pathology i.e. the analysis of the skeletal system.

The diagnostic significance of X-rays also includes the diagnosis of arthritis of the different parts of the body. They can be used in the analysis of the cancers and other types of tumors in the body. They can detect any other type of disease, which causes internal ulcers and inflammations, if the affected tissue changes in texture. They are also used in the detection of the diseases as stones in the kidneys or accumulations of the foreign particles in the body. However, these particles should have a detectable size. They are also used in the detection of swollen tissues in the body.

Thus, the diagnostic significance of X-rays lies in its application for many types of diseases and not only this; there are also some advantages about using them. The most important among them is that, the technique for the diagnosis is very simple and the patient does not have any trouble during the procedure.

The second advantage is that the X-rays diagnosis is a very fast technique. Results are obtained immediately and in case of emergencies, this is very important factor. Further they are cheaper than the other methods of analysis, and the instruments or the facilities that are required using them are not much. Because of this, every hospital can have these facilities. Lastly, in most the cases the results obtained through x-rays are very accurate.

Due such a diagnostic significance of x-rays, they are so commonly used in the medical field. If the correct method is applied then even though they are, highly energetic and therefore, their diagnostic significance is immeasurable.
