Medical imaging by sonographers involves several procedures for diagnosing aliments. Other diagnosis procedures involve X-rays and medical resonance imaging. These technologies are based on magnetic resonance imaging. The disadvantage of these technologies is that they do not provide deep image of the body.
Medical imaging by sonographers involves several procedures such as keeping appropriate equipment position, directing patient to move into appropriate position, and taking images of patient’s body parts. Additionally they need to assist physician in the treatment. Sonographers have to work with high frequency sound waves to get images of patient internal body organs. They have to operate with sophisticated equipments to collect reflected images. These images then videotaped, transmitted and photographed for interpretation. This interpretation has to be done by physician.
The medical imaging by sonographers involves several procedures such as viewing medical history of patients and explaining sonography procedures to them. It also helps physical to give treatment better. Sonographers then select equipment and make appropriate settings to take internal body images. These procedures also involve directing patients to move into positions to get better view. After getting perfect position, sonographers use a transducer, which produces rectangular shaped sound waves and transmits into the body. This technique may be different from the treatment suggested by the physician. Usually sonographers may use a special gel to assist sound waves into the body. Additionally sonographers can decide which images is good one to store. They can show these images to physicians and then they calculate values for further analysis. They can also assist physician for further investigations.
Medical imaging by sonographers also includes locating cancers and tumours in the body; this will help them to differentiate unhealthy body parts against healthy body parts
Medical imaging by sonographers may involve several additional responsibilities such as maintaining sonography machines and patient records. Some other responsibilities of sonographers may include managing sonography department and maintaining working schedules. Sonographers need good communication skills and interpersonal skills. They can explain technical procedures and results to their patient. Additionally they have ability of good hand and eye coordination to get good quality images.
