A sonographer is skilled medical professional who is adept at using certain equipments. One of the mandatory qualifications of an ultrasound sonographer is a diploma in ultrasound techniques. The couples expecting baby mostly visit only well qualified medical technicians. Sonographer provides all the information needed for health of mother as well as her baby.
Ultrasound diploma from reputed institute will be more eligible. The curriculums in ultrasound diploma usually consist of theory and practical classes. Ultrasound technique is thoroughly explained in ultra sound diploma. Other than diploma AS in radiology, cardiology technologists or equal is preferred sometimes prior experience may also be considered with degree. Graduate in ultrasound is preferred mostly.
Experience: In the qualification of an ultrasound sonographer two years experience as cardiovascular ultrasound technologists is required. Besides this license, certifications and registrations are also applicable. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers it is required in at least three disciplines generally does registration. BCLS is also mandatory.
Some of the education curriculum supports only those students who all are having science or health profession surroundings other institutes permit the applicants having their high school education in either science or liberal arts but this is applicable for limited institutes only.
Besides having the normal qualifications of an ultrasound sonographer, the person should be able to operate as well as troubleshoot cardiac ultrasound tools. He should be familiar with cardiac and vascular functions, cardiac testing technical language, anatomy and physiology, ability to distinguish normal from abnormal. Spatial acuity is important to judge location of transducers and to execute variations so as to recompense chest and body shape as well as size.
He must hold initiative and judgment which is necessary for the determination to alert nursing staff, physician to a potentially life threatening state. Applicant should possess an ability to work under periodic and demanding conditions those may be brought about because of critical situations, heavy workload and sometimes deadlines.
