The radiation therapy for leukemia is used to detect blood cancer. The treatment involves gamma or X-rays to detect blood cancer in the body.

The radiation therapy for leukemia is used for diagnosis of leukemia such as Hodgkin and central nervous system leukemia. If a person is diagnosis for leukemia then primary treatment program will involve a radiation therapy to reduce leukemia symptoms. Radiation therapy is useful to treat primary symptoms of leukemia such as pain in bone or nerve etc. A radiation therapy is also useful to treat severe symptoms of leukemia in respiratory system and bowel system.

The goal of radiation therapy for leukemia is to treat blood related symptoms such as destroying the cancer tissues and preventing growth of caner tissues. Radiography for leukemia is used less frequently to treat blood cancers because this disease spread faster than other diseases. The radiation therapy for leukemia is used to reduce number of cancer cells.

The radiation therapy for leukemia is given in form of gamma rays or X-rays.

The treatment dose can be suggested by oncologist. The radiation therapy for leukemia involves linear accelerator and cobalt-60 machine. The linear accelerator is used to emit high energy X-rays and cobalt-60 machines used to avoid skin reactions from radiotherapy. An electron beam therapy is used for normal tissues and it is very useful in the treatment of skin lymphomas.

The Radiation therapy for leukemia will be depending up on type and severity of disease. This treatment for leukemia can continue to several weeks. This process is called fractionation of the dose and it used to minimize the side effects of radiation process.

The treatment for leukemia involves radiation treatment for body parts and it may use a mark on the skin. Therefore, the treatment is aimed at the body part. These marks are called tattoo and can be removed later after the treatment. These marks also help treatment staff to measure body parts and locate aimed skin areas.

The radiation therapy for leukemia can damage cancer tissues and cells. The advantage of radiography technique for leukemia is that, it is not radioactive and it destroys cancer cells by hindering its ability to function normally. The radiation treatment for leukemia is used to prevent cancer cells to grow rapidly. This process involves several steps to decrease the size of tumor or elimination of cancer cells.
