The medical terminology of tennis elbow is lateral epicondylitis. It usually affects the outer portion of the elbow. The common symptoms are pain reoccurs on the outer portion of the upper forearm and below the bend of the elbow region and gradually the pain radiates down the arm which further spreads towards the wrist. The pain lasts for around 6 to 12 weeks and it might last for several years. The damage caused due to tennis elbow includes tiny tears in a part of tendon and in the muscle coverings. The collagen which is a protein that leaks out from the wounded areas and this causes inflammation and pain. This might result in stopping the blood flow. In the tennis elbow patients, tendons that join the muscles to bones do not receive the same amount of oxygen and blood that the muscles normally receive. Thus the cure becomes slow. Tennis elbow can last for years.
There are a number of remedial medicines available that are beneficial for curing the tennis elbow problem. Herbs, complementary therapies and other supplements are some of the remedial medicines.
The herb named as the Capsaicin cream, an extract from cayenne pepper when applied on the skin of the affected part, is beneficial for a person suffering from tennis elbow. Turmeric is also useful. Willow is another useful herb that has been advantageous.

There are a variety of treatments for tennis elbow which include surgery, drug injections and for mild cases of tennis elbow aspirin or ibuprofen will definitely be beneficial.
