There are many different types of X-rays, such as chest X-rays or dental X-rays. The type of X-ray depends on what part of part of body is being examined and also its positioning.
Bone X-ray: It is the most common type of X-ray that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. A bone X-ray depicts images of any bone in our body, like hands, wrist, ankle, arms any bone of any part of life.
Bone Density Scan: It is another type of bone X-ray in which is used for measuring bone mineral density. This type of X-ray is used for lower spine and hips bone. It is effectively used in tracking effect of treatment on osteoporosis.
Arthrography: It is one of the main types of x-ray examination of joints. This examination is done with help of special form of X-ray called as contrast material with iodine and fluoroscopy. With help of fluoroscopy, anatomy and function of the joints can be examined.
Chest X-ray: After Bone X-ray, chest X-ray is most commonly used as diagnostic X-ray for examination of the thoracic region. Chest X-ray gives images of the heart, airway, lungs, blood vessels and bones of spine and chest.
Cystogram: It is X-ray imaging of urinary bladder; it shows position and shape of bladder. Cystogram can also be used to examine after some pelvic injuries. It is also used to detect tumors or polyps in the bladder.
Lower GI series: It is on of the special types of x-ray used to diagnose problems in large intestine; it also shows like ulcers, growths, diverticuli, abnormal growth and colon cancer. In this method thick liquid of barium is used and this why lower GI series is sometimes known as barium enema.
Spine X-ray: Spine X-ray is used for acquiring detailed images of the spinal chord. This spine X-ray can be taken in three parts cervical (neck region of spine), thoracic (mid back region) and lumber (lower back).
Dental X-ray: As name suggests it is one of those types of x-rays that is used for imaging teeth and jaw structures. There are many different subtypes of dental X-ray are as follows;
* Bite wings: It is type of X-ray to get images of specific teeth.
* Occlusal X-ray: This X-ray shows whole bite of upper or lower jaw.
* Peripheral X-ray: It gives images of the entire tooth from root tip from the crown region.
* Panoramic X-ray: It is full image of the mouth with upper and lower jaws, sinuses as well as jaw joints.
