Ultrasonography is a technique used to find alignments for diagnosis. Ultrasonography is used to get deep body images, which is not possible through other medical diagnosis imaging techniques. This process is done by Ultrasonographers. The difference between X-rays and sonography is, X-rays need radio waves to generate images, but Ultrasonography techniques require sound waves to generate internal body images. There are many applications of sonography such as viewing of the fetus in the womb. However, Ultrasonography has many more applications in medical science.
Diagnostic medical sonographers are also known as Ultrasonographers, they use special equipment to perform their task such as keeping appropriate equipment position and directing patient to move into appropriate position. Taking images of patient’s body parts and assisting physician in the treatment are also work of Ultrasonographers.
Ultrasonographers have to work with high frequency sound waves to get images of patient’s internal body organs; they have to operate with sophisticated equipments, which collect reflected images. These images then videotaped, transmitted or photographed for interpretation, this interpretation has to be done by physician. Additionally Ultrasonographers have to use a gel on patient’s skin to avoid any unnecessary infections and then they find visual clues from images to differentiate unhealthy areas from unhealthy parts. Ultrasonographers can decide which images is good one to store and which images are necessary to show to physicians. Ultrasonographers can calculate values and analysis results for further Ultrasonography process
Ultrasonographers or diagnostic sonographers can be specialized in their areas such as abdominal sonographers (inspect patient cavity) neuro-sonographers (human nervous systems), ophthalmologic sonographers (to scan eyes)
Ultrasonographers have necessary qualifications to perform their job. Many hospitals and clinics hire professional Ultrasonographers, which have necessary qualifications and techniques to perform their job. The professional Ultrasonographers perform their job timely and accurately. They require knowledge and required skills to perform their job. Professional Ultrasonographers are aware of the nature of their work. Professional Ultrasonographers work together with patient through out treatments; they collaborate with physicians to ensure that images are satisfactory for diagnosis.
Ultrasonographers usually follow some precautionary measurements to perform their job smoothly such as maintaining ultrasonic machine, updating patient records etc. Sometimes they take steps to avoid any unwanted infection such as airbome, droplets and contact based infections.
